Christine's family and friends envision a natural area, including wetlands, preserved in her memory. This vision includes an educational component, like an interpretive trail to help others recognize what Christine saw - an interconnected natural community of flora and fauna, soil and water. Perhaps even an Arts and Music Festival to celebrate what Christine so treasured.

WADE IN THE WATER - 2006

This series was inspired by the spiritual, Wade in the Water. "A song that may have saved the lives of slaves, by advising water paths to avoid tracking bloodhounds; water had a healing power in this way, taking slaves to freedom. A defiant song, expressing a path to inner freedom and self-sufficiency." (Christine Sevilla)

WATERSHED - 2005

In this series, Christine explored and photographed the many wetlands in our area. Powder Mill Park, Hipp Brook Preserve, Thousand Acre Swamp, Durand and Mendon Ponds and others. Most of these works are printed or mounted on plastic, another technique she explored.

These are some of Christine's premiere multi-image works that were displayed at local art galleries. Well suited for a large office or home wall centerpiece.

Hemlock & Canadice

Christine worked towards the protection of the land around Hemlock & Canadice Lakes. She would be delighted to see that her efforts and others were finally successful when the city of Rochester turned this land over to the state as protected land.
